Jamie recommends "The Rosie Project"

The Rosie Project
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simison is a delightfully light book about genetics professor Don Tillman's search for a wife.  Don is a rigid slave to schedule, ritual and structure, which makes finding love a bit difficult.  In order to find the most suitable match, Don devises a questionnaire for potential mates.  Of course, the best laid plans are always interrupted and Don finds himself caught up in the drama of a graduate student named Rosie, rather than focusing on finding a wife.  This books is quick, easy read that is thoroughly enjoyable  for not only it's heart, but it's humor.

Colette recommends "The Screaming Staircase"

The screaming staircase. 1
Fun is the keyword as author Jonathan Stroud (Bartimaeus Trilogy) writes another plot-driven JFIC fantasy series, Lockwood & Co.  London, by night, is plagued by an infestation of ghosts and “Visitors” who can only be bested by  gifted children and adolescent Agents.  Tongue-in-cheek humor & fast moving action keeps you rooting for this appealing young set of “ghost-busters”.  A good family read, not too grim and creepy. Recommended for ages 9 through adult.
